Summary

You will organize and plan Shipyard SUBSAFE, Deep Submergence Systems (DSS) Scope of Certification and Fly-By-Wire Ship Control Systems programs as they relate to non-nuclear submarine work.
You will represent the shipyard across all Shipyard organizational lines to expedite problem solving and liaise between various shops and codes.
You will provide audit support as a qualified SUBSAFE, DSS-SOC, or FBW SCS auditor during internal or external Functional and Certification audits.
You will analyze and recommend quality improvement to complex shipyard programs that support critical Submarine work.
You will present findings to the Program Director or other supervisors regarding technical or administrative problems for SUBSAFE, DSS, Scope of Certification and Fly-By-Wire Ship Control Systems.
You will perform Re-Entry Control (REC) package audits of I-Level availabilities, documents discrepancies and ensure they are resolved prior to certifying the submarine for sea.
Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a Professional Engineer, analyzing the tasks associated with submarine construction, repair, overhaul and testing, developing solutions to technical problems, executing the SUBSAFE certification program and functional audits.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
Education
Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
