Duties

Help

Personnel Management 35%

  • Supervises approximately three or more employees including one Maintenance Mechanic, two Bowling Equipment Workers and three Recreation Aides.
  • Employees perform duties in the beverage service, bowling equipment repair, lane and shoe rental customer service and cash handling.
  • Performs supervisory which includes assigning work, defining priorities, selecting and recommending applicants for hire, instructing employees on both technical and administrative matters, evaluating performance, recommending pay, adjustments and awards, providing or recommending training approving and/or disapproving leave requests, initiating corrective actions, and recommending formal corrective/disciplinary actions as warranted.
  • Supervises day-to-day operation of bowling programs.
Program Management 25%
  • The incumbent is responsible for the general management, administration and promotion of a 12 lane bowling center, recreational bowling leagues, special events and programs.
  • Plans, programs, promotes and executes a broad based bowling program comprised of special events, leagues, tournaments, open bowling, parties and other activities designed to maximize participation in accordance of CNIC program standards. Promotes events and programs by speaking to groups of people and using administrative resources to create and post advertising materials, as well as provide input for the monthly newsletter and a variety of print and digital media.
  • Assists with duties at Food Counter when Food and Beverage Manager is not present.
Financial Management 20%
  • Develops and justifies annual budget for the bowling facility. Monitors budget execution.
  • Analyzes financial statements, investigates variances and makes adjustments as necessary.
  • Conducts and maintains inventory including bowling machine maintenance parts and bowling resale items.
  • Identifies sources and requests purchases for facility supplies, services and other expenses.
  • Maintains records and is accountable for the overall profit and loss of all bowling center operations.
Facility Management 10%
  • Schedules preventative maintenance of pinsetter equipment and all automated scoring and operational systems.
  • Maintains an accurate inventory of spare and replacement parts for pinsetters and automated scoring and control systems. Orders parts, supplies and equipment as required.
  • Schedules annual lane certification to comply with American Bowling Congress (ABC) standards. Identifies facility and non-bowling equipment deficiencies and arranges for repair or maintenance action through in-house assets, MWR facilities division, or Naval Station Public Works as appropriate.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.

Qualifications

Specialized experience directly related to the duties described above. Qualifying experience must have been equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Knowledge of effective marketing techniques to include marketing strategies, customer trend analysis, price analysis and retail display.
  • Knowledge of beverage sales and procurement.
  • Must attend alcohol server training and maintain certification.
  • Must have a working knowledge of cost of goods and how it impacts revenues.
  • Must possess knowledge of sanitation requirements and be able to obtain a food hander's certification.
  • Must be able to develop and enforce various controls and methods to prevent inventory shortages and losses.
  • Must possess a knowledge of business management practices and methods to manage a small business or recreation facility.
  • Knowledge of effective profit/loss accounting techniques and budget formation and execution.
  • Must have knowledge of personnel programs, training methodology and effective supervisory techniques.

Work Environment
  • The incumbent will sometimes be required to work around moving machineries in areas of high noise.
  • Some maintenance chemicals may be an irritant.
  • Some time may be spent in moderately high heat areas. Administrative duties are accomplished in a general office atmosphere.
  • The Bowling Center Manager can sometimes work nights and weekends.
