As a ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC LEADER, WL-2610-12, you serve as the Work Leader over a small organization in the electronics function with responsibility for the overall shop operation. Oversees and directs the work of three or more Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanics, WG-2610-12 who are assigned to the shop. You will provide sustainment base maintenance in support of regional Army National Guard (ARNG) Aviation assets and supports field maintenance in accordance with ARNG Aviation priorities. The AVCRAD maintenance activities ensure aircraft of the region are ready and available to support Federal and State missions. In addition, the AVCRAD performs National Maintenance Program (NMP) repair of rotary wing aircraft and components, limited depot airframe repair, aircraft painting, major airframe repair, depot-level component repair, and component repair and management, as directed by Army Materiel Command (AMC), and prioritized by the National Guard Bureau (NGB). Serve as the Work Leader over a small organization in the electronics function with responsibility for the overall shop operation. Oversees and directs the work of three or more Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanics, WG-2610-12 who are assigned to the shop.

1. Passes on to other workers instructions received from supervisor, and starts work (e.g., assigns immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the group led). Insures that needed plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations. Checks work in progress and when finished, checks for compliance with supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines. Urges or advises other employees to follow supervisor's instructions and to meet deadlines; demonstrates proper work methods. Obtains needed information or decisions from the supervisor on problems that come up during the work. Provides information to supervisor on status and progress of work, causes of delays, and overall work operations and problems (e.g., additional on-the-job training requirements for individual employees). Assures that safety and housekeeping rules are followed (e.g., assures that machine capacities are not exceeded and that tools are properly used). Shows others proper trade techniques and practices and explains safety precautions to be followed in setting up equipment, and gives instruction in the use of test equipment, measuring devices, precision instruments, and safety devices.

2. Maintains a current knowledge, and answers questions of other workers on procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives (for example, technical orders). Performs the diagnostic troubleshooting, analysis, repair, rebuild and modification of aircraft, which includes responsibility for the primary and final alignment of the total aircraft system. Conducts training sessions designed to update, improve, or upgrade the knowledge and skills of others. Performs visual and dimensional check of the aircraft systems to detect loose or broken connections; damaged or defective, parts; corrosion of the integral integrated electronic, and contributing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems. As required, and for accountability purposes, conducts inventory of aircraft parts and makes proper routing for work required to be performed in prime shops. Sees to it that there is enough work to keep everyone in work crew busy.

3. Works along with other workers and sets the pace for overhauls, repairs, rebuilding, modifying, testing, installing, adjusting, as well as the primary and final alignment of the complete integrated aircraft system, its subsystems, and components; and their contributing optical, mechanical, electrical, and/or hydraulic systems, ground to air data link radar, electronic countermeasures, secure voice, and data processing. Demonstrates proper work methods and performs the duties of a WG-2612-12 in addition to leadership responsibilities. Performs diagnostic tests and isolates subsystems malfunctions, using standard and special test procedures. Makes connection of major systems to appropriate consoles and test instruments and utilizes a wide number of logical troubleshooting routines and techniques to detect and isolate the location/cause of malfunctions and other insufficiencies to the lowest level(s) required. whether it be a system, subsystem, or components. Makes such repairs or modifications and replacements required, or causes them to be done, to correct malfunction or improve function. Makes necessary repair, changes, etc., to integral systems to bring to alignment. Repairs, corrects and balances integrated systems to make final alignment of the total aircraft system.

5. Performs other duties as assigned.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES:

1. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.

6. Wear of the military uniform is MANDATORY.

9. The incumbent may be required to qualify to wear a respirator and pass a respirator fit test.

10. Employee is required to wear safety clothing and equipment appropriate for the job and work area where assigned or as directed by the supervisor. Work may require wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as steel toed boots, rubber gloves, masks, rubber aprons, etc.

11.The position requires the incumbent to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station.

12.The incumbent must be willing and able to travel on military and commercial aircraft.

13. May require having or be able to obtain government operator's license for up to 10,000-pound forklifts.

Qualifications

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

MILITARY MEMBERS WITH BONUSES: Upon acceptance of a military technician position military members who are currently receiving a military Reenlistment/Extension Bonus (REB) or GI Bill-SR Kicker may lose incentive eligibility and may be subject to termination or suspension of incentive (includes indefinite and temporary technicians on assignment for more than 180 days in any continuous 12-month period).

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have a validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade.
Skilled in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately along with:

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Skilled in duties such as, install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes
  • Ability to format and write English in reports and presentation formats
  • Skilled in presenting formal training presentations and briefings
  • Skilled in applying procedures and directives by reading and interpreting material
  • Skilled in training, mentoring, leading, and problem-solving

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess at least 24 months of skill, knowledge, and abilities of the FWS 2610 work at the Electronic Equipment Test Facility (EETF) of an Aviation Classification Repair Activity Depot (AVCRAD). Competencies and experiences must include abilities and skills to inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, align, modify, calibrate and certify the test stations, and their peripherals, support equipment and associated subsystems. Skilled in using the stations to test, troubleshoot, modify, align, repair, maintain, and certify integrated avionics systems and major components of these systems. Skilled in analyzing performance, testing, inspecting, troubleshooting, identifying and isolating malfunctions, disassembles, modifies or repairs, reassembles, and aligns the test stations and their associated peripherals. Capabilities and experiences include work with complex interrelated variables that arise from a mix of computer hardware and software; and, special purpose test subsystems. Skilled in analyzing malfunctions using schematics, logic and wiring diagrams, programming tables, computer program flow charts, software user guides, computer program listings and factory drawings. Skilled in diagnosing circuit operating characteristics using computer query, system peculiar test equipment, and computer diagnostics.
