• Work with highly complex cases in which individuals are severely impacted by moderate to severe psychiatric diagnoses.
• Collect bio-psycho-social information about patients using interview, case history, and observation techniques, and assessment methods.
• Provide individual, family, and group clinical counseling services.
• Provide case management services to effectively manage patients enrolled in behavioral intensive outpatient behavioral programs and prevent crises.
• Interact with other professionals to discuss therapy or treatment, new resources or techniques.

• This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.

• This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
• Position requires a current, active, full, and unrestricted national license as a Clinical Social Worker.
• Applicants must be able to fulfill non-privileged professional credential requirements.
• This position may require rotating shifts (i.e. work schedule that requires employees to continuously rotate from one shift to another at predetermined intervals).
• Moderate to heavy lifting up to 30 pounds is required.
• Position is designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.

Basic Requirements for Social Worker (Clinical):Degree:
Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting bio-psychosocial evaluations for behavioral health patients, providing diagnosis of behavioral health symptoms, and developing behavioral health treatment recommendations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

License: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted independent social work clinical licensure from a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required.
