Duties

Help
  • Dispense, prescribe and administer medicine.
  • Screen for drug interactions and review pertinent laboratory results as part of the prescription verification process.
  • Document pharmaceutical care activities in the medical record as appropriate.
  • Monitor drug therapy to assure clinically appropriate balance of risks and benefits is maintained and modify the therapy when it differs from established clinical parameters or protocols.
  • Prepare complex combinations regimens for clinical protocols including new and investigational agents and biologic response modifiers.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position requires rotating shift work based on mission needs. Employee shifts are rotated on a regular basis.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position requires the incumbent to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
  • This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work on an "on-call" basis, necessary to meet mission requirements.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Pharmacist:

Education:
A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirement above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0660 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017, or before. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.

Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, a territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia is required.

Medical Requirement: Must be able to distinguish basic colors.

Experience: One year of professional pharmacy experience which includes providing clinical pharmaceutical care to patients; advising on medication therapy management; and training or educating health care professionals on the use of drugs and other pharmaceuticals.

  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
