  • Works under the general supervision of the Branch Chief who assigns work in terms of objectives and goals.
  • Assigns team members; prioritizes, plans, schedules, and executes project specific work.
  • Provides technical oversight of A-E’s who are used to perform design work.
  • Products include studies, designs, analyses, plans, and specifications for a wide range of building types, structures and ancillary projects.
  • Work products also include multiple purpose dams and appurtenant structures, navigation locks, breakwaters, docks, and waterfront structures.

This is a Temporary Promotion Opportunity: This is a temporary promotion opportunity for Current Army Employees. Position may be filled as a Temporary Promotion NTE 5 years. Temporary promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years and may be made permanent without further competition. Or Position may be filled as a Reassignment/Change to Lower Grade to positions at the same, or higher grade, on a temporary basis.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Architect:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) design management of a wide range of building types, structures and ancillary projects such as multiple purpose dams and appurtenant structures, navigation locks, breakwaters, docks, and waterfront structures; (2) preparing and monitoring design budgets; (3) collaborating with professional staff providing highly complex architectural/structural/historic preservation work for civil, military and Hazardous, Toxic, Radioactive Waste (HTRW) projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For the GS-13 level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
