Duties

Help
  • Develop and execute operational concepts, policy and plans to support assigned specialized missions of the directorate.
  • Establishes oversight of operational, engineering, technical, business and administrative functions for all mission areas involved with Continuity of Operations, Continuity of Government, Physical Security of Principals.
  • Develops new program initiatives to address emerging technologies with solutions that balance operational requirements with the mission.
  • Able to interpret and execute relative requirements of emergency management directives, regulations, policies, standards and guidance.
  • Performs supervision and oversight of civilian and contractor personnel, planning and scheduling functions, test, training and exercise support, and the development and execution of specialized continuity plans/missions.

  • This is a Mission Essential position. The nature of the position’s duties and the organization’s operational mission requires the incumbent to physically report to their duty station in certain situations.
  • This position requires the incumbent to travel away from their normal duty station to other locations within the continental United States and/or other locations outside the continental United States up to 20 percent of the time.
  • This position requires the incumbent to work an alternative or shift work schedule.
  • In accordance with DoD 8140 policy series, the position is subjected to completing Foundational Qualifications in 9 months and completing Residential Qualification requirements in 12 months.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience:

For the GS-15, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-14 if outside the Federal service.

Specialized experience is defined as Experience supervising crisis management, assigning work priority based on organizational needs. Maintaining organizational continuity of operations and resiliency activities AND Planning and organizing crisis training, and response.

In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position. Candidates must clearly demonstrate the possession of competencies necessary to successfully perform the work of the position at the appropriate level to be qualified for the position. Applicants must describe how their experience meets the competencies within the body of the resume. No separate statements addressing competencies are required.

  • This position is subject to completion of a 1-year probationary period for assignment to a supervisory position.
