Duties

Help
  • Plans, coordinates, and executes the protocol program for university events including ceremonies, conferences, official visits of senior level US Government and international distinguished visitors, official social functions, and other events.
  • Plan/coordinate requirements including sequence of events, invitations, transportation, lodging, security/access, venues, flag/ceremony support, ushers, gifts, entertainment, inclement weather plans, menus, seating charts, ceremonial décor/bunting.
  • Develops and updates university policies and procedures for protocol programs to include Official Representation Funds, Gift Locker, order of precedence, national and international customs and courtesies, and support to component events
  • Coordinates with the offices of senior leadership within DoD, Joint Staff, and other USG agencies, embassies, and private sector for attendance to university events.
  • Briefs senior organizational leadership on status of planning and actions during the execution of event.
  • Responsible for the execution and administration of funds, preparing the annual budgets for events, establishing contracts with venues and caterers, and procuring supplies and services through government credit card and centrally billed accounts.

Qualifications

You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service.

Specialized Experience is defined as: adhering to agency policies and procedures regarding the planning, coordinating, directing and executing national and international engagements, conferences, and large ceremonies.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Education is not substitutable for specialized experience for this grade level.

Initial Probationary Period: You will be required to serve an initial probationary period of one year if one has not already been completed.

Background or Security Investigation: This is a non-critical sensitive position which requires a background investigation. The individual selected for this position is required to obtain and maintain a Secret security determination to occupy a non-critical sensitive position within the agency as a condition of employment.

Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP): You must be well qualified for the position to receive special selection priority under the ICTAP.
