Provides direct leadership and management of the Social Studies and Advanced Placement Program at an agency level to include review of curriculum, performance and program standards, and instructional strategies.
Serves as content expert and/or Contracting Officer Representative (COR) on multiple system-wide contracts which includes developing Statement of Work (SOW) and monitoring contracts to ensure technical services are provided.
Facilitates alignment of content and instruction with assessments that measure performance in Social Studies and Advanced Placement Program ranging from traditional test scores to performance indicators and tasks with related scoring rubrics.
Supports curriculum specialists and educational leaders' professional growth through focused learning in methods for implementing and maintaining effective Social Studies and Advanced Placement Program instruction and assessment.
Identify viable performance measures to monitor improvement of student achievement in Social Studies and Advanced Placement Program that support college and career readiness at a district and/or state level.
Coordinates the selection, implementation, and evaluation of instructional resources and equipment to support the teaching and learning of Social Studies and Advanced Placement Program.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Basic Requirement for Instructional Systems Specialist:
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours appropriate to the work of the position to be filled. The course work must have included study in at least four of the following five areas: (1) Learning theory, psychology of learning, educational psychology: Study of learning theories as they relate to the systematic design, development, and validation of instructional material. (2) Instructional design practices: Study of the principles and techniques used in designing training programs, developing design strategy and models, and applying design methods to the improvement of instructional effectiveness. (3) Educational evaluation: Study of the techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of instructional/educational programs, including developing written and performance tests and survey instruments, and determining reliability and validity of evaluation instruments. (4) Instructional product development: Study of the techniques appropriate for developing training materials, including identifying learner characteristics, specifying objectives, applying training strategy, validating training materials, and evaluating training. OR (5) Computers in education and training: Study of the application of computers in education and training, including selecting appropriate computer software.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes above school level experience in teaching, educational research, development of educational materials and aids, educational testing, educational administration, development and delivery of professional learning or comparable activities in a secondary school, with demonstrated success in the application of principles, methods, and techniques of education and familiarity with current developments in secondary education and training.
