  • You will work under the general supervision of the Operations Manager for Navigation Division who provides broad general direction regarding the objectives and results desired.
  • You will be directly responsible for all technical, professional, and administrative functions of the U.S. Moorings facility and the maintenance of the various floating plant facilities within the Channels and Harbors Project.
  • The work requires exercising expert professional and administrative knowledge and ability in accomplishing Facilities Management within the framework of general policies and operational directives from higher authorities.
  • You will collaborates with chiefs of other Sections within the Channels and Harbors Project to negotiate, decide on, and coordinate work-related changes affecting the maintenance of the nation's waterways.

  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • This position entails Contracting Officer Representative (COR) duties. You are not required to be a certified COR to qualify initially, but will be required to take the courses necessary for certification.

About the Position: As the Chief of the Plant Maintenance Section, you will lead a team of highly qualified, interdisciplinary experts in the fields of ship repair and maintenance, as well as facilities management. Moreover, the incumbent will work collaboratively within a team of leaders responsible for the maintenance of the nation's waterways, providing the backbone the U.S. Waterborne Commerce. Innovation, efficiency, and collaboration mark the culture of the Channels and Harbors Project.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.

Specialized Experience is defined as: Experience overseeing plant maintenance facilities associated with the maintenance and repair of large sea going vessels. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
