Duties

Help
  • Prepare standard operating plans for emergency preparedness.
  • Continuously monitor security management automated systems.
  • Analyze physical security operation procedures to ensure maximum security is provided.
  • Review security documents for accuracy to maintain status reports.
  • Conduct onsite physical security inspections for compliance with regulations.
  • Provide assessments of facilities security posture to provide risk analysis.
  • Provide inspection reports to brief leaders on recommended changes to security program.
  • Assist with Defense Travel System management to coordinate travel related items.
  • Routinely conduct security information classes for entire unit education.
  • Disseminate updated related information to update personnel on changes to policies.

  • Position requires the incumbent to complete Advance Anti-Terrorism Course level II.
  • Position requires the incumbent to complete the Physical Security Certification Course.
  • TDY required approximately 15% of the time.
  • DRUG TESTING: The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
  • LAUTENBERG AMENDMENT: This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • This position requires you to possess, or obtain and maintain for the duration of employment, a Secret security clearance.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing security principles or concepts to make determinations; advising personnel on security matters; aiding in the inspection of facilities to determine security requirements; and utilizing automated system to initiate or track background checks. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Cyber Security, Homeland Security, or Security Management (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
