As an INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (Senior IT Data Specialist), you will:

  • Assist the development, design, implementation, and evaluation of national data extraction applications providing assistance to TIGTA staff.
  • Coordinate enhancements for data extraction and delivery of electronic files to the off-the-shelf software formats utilized on TIGTA's computer equipment located throughout the country. Identifies local applications for evaluation and improvement of system effectiveness.
  • Support the Information Security Program to protect taxpayer data.
  • Exemplify a high degree awareness of and compliance with the need to protect sensitive (e.g., taxpayer, personnel, procurement, etc.) data within or through systems under their control.
  • Ensure the effective delivery of services targeted to assure that all managers and employees are aware of their roles and responsibilities for the protection of data.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-14: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
- Conducting information technology tasks using SAS templates, maps, writing SAS applications IBM mainframe programming using JCL, DB2, Assembler, or technology tasks using SPF.


In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.


Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13level for 52 weeks.

Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT (CONTINUED):
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
