Duties

Help

As a Plate Printer Supervisor, you will:

  • Assign, direct, and review through subordinate supervisors or personally the work of subordinates, and evaluate their work performance.
  • Resolve problems related to the work supervised and determine materials and equipment necessary to complete currency order.
  • Deal with employees and union representatives regarding employee suggestions, complaints, grievances, and perform a variety of administrative and other ministerial duties attendant to the sections production responsibilities.
The BEP is currently in the process of having a new facility built in Beltsville, MD and expect to move to the new facility within the next 5 years. If selected, you may be sent and/or reassigned to the new Beltsville facility. By applying to this position, you understand this potential requirement.

Physical Requirements:
The position works in a production environment and spends time walking on concrete floors, moving, and climbing in and around large industrial printing presses and related equipment. The position may at times exert moderate force when lifting, pushing or pulling equipment, parts or supplies. Lifting occurs with normal body mechanics and does not exceed 45 pounds. Lift, carry and place on an average of once per week OVl ink kits (set of nine) and intaglio press plates not exceeding 15 pounds under normal and usual conditions.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

You must meet the screen-out element Ability to Supervise Through Subordinate Supervisors (Screen Out), normally addressed at the beginning of the online questions.

To meet the screen-out element, applicants must have the ability to perform common supervisor duties. Applicants must have experience as an acting supervisor supervising Assistant Supervisors. Applicants must have experience scheduling and overseeing work operations. Applicants must have experience reporting problems related to the work supervised and ensuring the monthly currency order is met. Applicants must have experience ensuring employee safety and enforcing security processes, procedures, and regulations.

In addition, you must also obtain an average score of two (2) for the following elements for this position as addressed through the online question in order to be considered minimally qualified. Your application will be evaluated in the following areas,

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • The facility typically shuts down annually between Christmas and New Year's Day. As such, all BEP employees must take leave for workdays during the shutdown period.
  • A one-year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required.
  • Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required.

  • This position requires that the successful candidate undergo personnel vetting, which includes a background investigation and enrollment upon onboarding into "Continuous Vetting."   • Shift Work: This facility operates on a 24 hour per day, three-shift basis. Assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed. The successful applicant must be available to work on all three shifts on a rotational basis.
  • Weekend work and overtime, if applicable, will be scheduled when needed based on production requirements as determined by Management.
