Help

As a Public Affairs Specialist (Social Media Specialist), you will:

  • Monitor and manage DFC's social media presence on platforms such as X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Medium, Instagram, etc. to establish and maintain understanding with the public on DFC projects and priorities.
  • Develop modern and engaging multimedia content that promotes public awareness of DFC using appropriate virtual communication tools to reach the intended audience.
  • Work independently to facilitate social media content management, ensuring that it is up-to-date, accurate, and engaging in order to increase the public's understanding of DFC's projects and priorities in a concise and accessible manner.
  • Ensure consistent branding across social media platforms to deliver a seamless experience.
  • Create and execute comprehensive digital communications campaigns including writing scripts, storyboarding, and interview coaching.
  • Develop marketing products for social media platforms, websites, events, emails, communications campaigns, and related activities that align with DFC's mission and objectives including graphics content, videos, microsites, and other digital content.
  • Provide recommendations on digital communications best practices and stakeholders based on experience.

Qualifications

Status candidates must meet time-in-grade requirements (52 weeks at the next lower grade level). Applicants must meet all eligibility and qualification requirements no later than the closing date of this announcement.

TIME-IN-GRADE
: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b).

You may qualify at the GS-11 level, if you fulfill one of the following qualification requirements:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates your ability in:
1) Monitoring and managing an organization's social media presence on platforms such as X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Medium, Instagram, etc. to establish and maintain understanding.
2) Ensuring consistent branding across social media platforms to deliver a seamless experience.
3) Developing marketing products for social media platforms, websites, events, emails, communications campaigns, and related activities including graphics content, videos, microsites, and other digital content.


OR

B. A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or possession of a LL.M. degree, if related. Graduate level education must demonstrate the competencies necessary to do the work of the position;

OR

C. A combination of education and experience as listed above.

You may qualify at the GS-12 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirements:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates your ability in: ;
1) Providing recommendations on digital communications best practices and stakeholders based on experience.
2) Creating and executing comprehensive digital communications campaigns including writing scripts, storyboarding, and interview coaching.
3) Working independently to facilitate social media content management, ensuring that it is up-to-date, accurate, and engaging in order to increase the public's understanding in a concise and accessible manner.


Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
