This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Office of the Secretary (OS), Legislative Policy Branch, in Washington, D.C..

At the full performance level (GS-7) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Establish and maintain correspondence files and official Departmental legislative history files using an established filing system as well as new electronic filing systems.
2. Maintain supply room, prepare conference rooms, complete large collating and copying projects, and process incoming and outgoing routine office mail.
3. Utilize the legislative tracking system to accurately ensure all legislative issues and proposals are collected, processed, and referred to the appropriate subject matter experts.
4. Drive the Director or others to meetings on Capitol Hill or at other government agencies.
5. Maintain daily trip logs and prepare monthly vehicle management reports.
6. Hand-carry special material to other agencies, Congressional and Executive Offices and secure appropriate signatures.

Salary Range Information:
GS-07: $55,924 - $72,703 per annum.
First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.

This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, must meet A, B, or C below to qualify for the GS-07 grade level:

A. Specialized Experience:
To qualify for the GS-07, you must possess one year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, the required specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience:
1) Managing an electronic file system for a department or organization;
2) Maintaining daily schedules for assets and coordinating its use among office leadership; and
3) Developing spreadsheets for tracking congressional actions.

*If qualifying in whole on specialized experience applicants are required to meet both of the specialized experience statements defined.

OR

B. Education:
Completion of one full year of graduate level education or a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement

C. Combination of Education and Experience: A qualifying combination of specialized experience and post-high school education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (i.e., credits received beyond the second year). DUE WEIGHT
Due Weight Consideration is a review process used to provide consideration to performance appraisals and awards submitted with each application on a used merit promotion certificate and factoring the results into the merit promotion selection process.
