RELOCATION STATEMENT: If you are a current promotion eligible NCUA employee residing outside of the Southern Region, your relocation expenses may be authorized, in accordance with NCUA's relocation policies, if you are moving near a major airport in one of the Southern Region states listed below.

Southern Region continental states are Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.

DUTY STATION STATEMENT: Location is negotiable within commuting distance of a major airport within the continental Southern Region. For NCUA employees currently located in a Southern Region continental state listed above, your duty station will not change.

As a Director of Special Actions, you will:
- Negotiate with officials of problem credit unions and state supervisory authorities to implement effective corrective action to eliminate or minimize potential losses.
- Recommend and direct necessary administrative action such as cease and desist, involuntary liquidations, assisted mergers, removal of credit union management, etc. for assigned cases.
- Recommend transfer of credit unions managed under Special Actions to specific Supervisory Examiner Groups with justification noting improvement of the specific case.
- Review and recommend credit unions for consideration transfer into Special Actions noting specific risks requiring more thorough specialist review, or other major deteriorating operational/financial conditions.
- Implement any needed conservatorship activity for assigned cases and supervise management and operation of credit unions while under conservatorship.
- Coordinate with the Office of Examination and Insurance to provide national training and capital markets, lending, problem resolution, and information system issues.
- Contribute to the formulation of NCUA's policy by serving as an advisor and consultant to the Regional Director on matters pertaining to special actions including capital markets and specialized lending.
- Represent the Regional Director before groups on subjects related to area of expertise.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is the experience that has equipped you with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.

All applicants applying for the CU-15 level must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the CU/GS-14 level obtained in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience:
1) analyzing financial data and reports;
2) recommending appropriate administrative actions for problem financial institutions;
3) advising staff on one or more technical specialty areas (e.g. capital markets, specialized lending, and information systems and technology, consumer compliance, electronic payment systems, record keeping and internal controls); and
4) supervising employees (inclusive of leading team exams or leading projects).

Additional information

SALARY: Pay will be set within the advertised pay range to align with the selectee's skills and experience and the requirements of the position in accordance with NCUA's compensation policy. The salary range shown is NCUA's National Pay Rate (NPR) which includes a locality rate of 16.32% for the Rest of the U.S. (RUS) geographical area. Actual salary will be determined upon the location of the selectee and the applicable locality pay, per the NCUA's CU pay table, will be applied. The locality rates, by location, can be found on the NCUA Careers webpage under the Salary Information section.

EXCEPTION: If you are a current non-supervisory NCUA employee and are selected for reassignment into a supervisory position, you may receive up to a 10% salary increase, not to exceed the National Pay Rate (NPR) of the pay grade. Management will consider your current salary in relation to the duties and responsibilities of the new position.

EXCEPTION: If a current Supervisory Examiner (SE) CU-15 employee is selected for reassignment into a Director of Special Actions position, the selectee may be eligible to receive up to a 9% salary adjustment not to exceed the maximum NPR of the CU-15 pay band.
