Duties

Help

  • The Senior Board Advisor will provide support for the policy and programmatic activities of the Chairperson and the Board, including matters relating to chemical safety, hazardous materials, hazardous waste, and emergency response
  • Have experience and/or understanding working with environmental and chemical related agencies and organizations, including experience working at both a state environmental agency and a federal environmental agency.
  • Advises CSB management officials on the status of policy questions and initiatives currently being considered by the Chairperson, the Board, and agency management officials.
  • Oversees and monitors direct support requirements for conferences, meetings, seminars, and other external events in which the Chairperson and/or the Board will participate; travels with the Chairperson and/or the Board; and travels in advance of external events involving the Chairperson and/or the Board to organize (and assist with the organization of) the events.

Applicants must meet the specialized experience requirements below.
In order to be eligible for the GS-13 level, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-12) in the Federal Service that has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties the position. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is in or directly related to the line of work of this position and has equipped you with the knowledge and competencies to successfully perform the duties of this position. More specifically, this requirement involves experience in ALL of the following:
1) Providing administrative and other support services or assistance to the Director/Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of a state environmental agency or a federal environmental agency; 2) Analyzing reports, data, or other information relating to agency operations, practices, or programs for the Director/Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of a state environmental agency or a federal environmental agency; 3) Coordinating with internal staff and external stakeholders or organizations at the Local, State, Tribal, and Federal levels regarding agency mission and activities at a state environmental agency or a federal environmental agency; and 4) Experience reviewing or monitoring regulatory requirements relating to chemical safety, hazardous materials, hazardous waste, and emergency response.

1) Providing policy and other support services or assistance to the Director/Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of a state environmental agency or a federal environmental agency; 2) Collaborating and liaising with internal staff and external stakeholders or organizations at the Local, State, Tribal, and Federal levels regarding agency mission and activities at a state environmental agency or a federal environmental agency; 3) Giving presentations on behalf of the Director/Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of a state environmental agency or a federal environmental agency to disseminate key information and awareness; and 4) Experience implementing or analyzing regulatory requirements relating to chemical safety, hazardous materials, hazardous waste, and emergency response.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
