Duties

Help

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-14 . If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

  • Responsible for the development of HUD OIG information security policies, standards and procedures. Work with key agency offices, data custodians and governance groups in the development of such policies.
  • Provide management and technical support for the design, development and implementation of AIS security plans, disaster recovery and continuity of operations plans, and risk assessments.
  • Administer the program, including establishing reporting criteria, coordinating with the Office of Investigations as appropriate, and coordinating with other computer security organizations.
  • Ensure the integration of INFOSEC programs and services and develop solutions to integration/interoperability issues; design, develop, and manage INFOSEC architecture and applications that meet current and future IT security requirements and apply and extend, enhance, or optimize the existing IT Security architecture.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13grade level in the Federal service, which is directly related to the position as listed in this announcement and has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position includes:
- Skill in applying, advanced IT principles, concepts, methods, standards, and practices sufficient to provide sound guidance, technical advice and recommendations to management on all security policies and procedures; AND
- Managing a small investigative network performing duties in multiple, affiliated roles such as systems administration, network security, and implementing network updates/changes; AND
- Identifying, documenting, and implementing recommendations to ensure network compliance with the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), and/or identifying the need for risk assessments where necessary; AND
- Conducting forensic analysis/review of electronic evidence, network logs, and security device output relating to the investigation of attacks, intrusions, and threats against an organization's computer and network infrastructure.

Specialized experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12grade level in the Federal service, which is directly related to the position as listed in this announcement and has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes performing a full range of advanced information technology security activities such as:
- Analyzing and preserving evidence used in reporting information security incidents; AND
- Analyzing and researching Information Security Programs to assess risks and weaknesses; AND
- Conducting IT vulnerability assessments; AND
- Serving as an authority on information technology security audits; AND
- Providing advice based on research of governing policies, regulations, and legal precedents.

In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT (CONTINUED):
- A one year probationary period may be required.
