Help
  • Certify accuracy of electronic equipment and measurement instruments used to test missiles.
  • Inspect and repair Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) to provide depot-level repair support.
  • Conduct calibration tests to determine sources of inaccuracies from deficient components.
  • Interpret manuals and technical bulletins, ensuring their availability to the workforce.
  • Provide training to users on standards, measuring methods, and missile facility procedures.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance.
  • Business travel/temporary duty (TDY) may be required up to 15% of the time.
  • Mobility Agreement required to assigned areas world-wide to support the mission.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968; persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible.
  • Ammunition certification in accordance with AMC-R 350-4 is required within one year of appointment.
  • Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives Screening in accordance with AR 190-11 required initially and annually.
  • Pre-employment and annual physical examinations required.
  • Position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter.
  • May be required to be on call and work irregular hours.
  • Must be willing to accept a temporary position.
  • This position is obligated to an individual with return rights to the position, must be willing to sign a return rights agreement.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) performing calibrations and certifying the accuracy of electronic equipment used as test equipment in missile facilities; 2) minimizing sources of inaccuracies from deficient components to assure precise calibration; 3) inspecting test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE) to provide repair support; and 4) interpreting publications of standards, measurement handbooks, and calibration bulletins. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or electronics technology. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification).
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

Education

Position may be made permanent without further competition.

An obligated position is one to which an employee has statutory restoration rights or entitlement based on active military service, recovery from a compensable injury, or return rights based on an overseas tour.
