Basic Education Requirement:
In order to qualify for a Health Program Specialist (Neuroscience), GS-0601, position you must have successfully completed a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a Bachelor's degree or graduate/higher level degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be form an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
In addition, in order to qualify for the Health Program Specialist (Neuroscience) at the GS-11 level, you must:
1. Have completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in biomedical or related fields, or three (3) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a related field;
OR
2. You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal Government, performing the following types of tasks: coordinating and/or conducting research projects in neuroscience, neurology or related fields; managing or conducting translational or clinical biomedical research; reviewing and revising reports relevant to biomedical research; AND organizing information and presenting findings involving neuroscience related medical and scientific subjects to the scientific community.
OR
3. Have a combination of graduate education and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
To qualify at the GS-12 level:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal Government, performing the following types of tasks: coordinating, evaluating and/or conducting research projects in neuroscience, neurology or related fields; analyzing biomedical research to assess effectiveness of research strategies; analyzing alternatives and recommending solutions to problems affecting conduct of research studies; AND writing and editing neuroscience related biomedical research reports and scientific material for presentations.
To qualify at the GS-13 level:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal Government, performing the following types of tasks: planning, coordinating and assessing proposed research projects in neuroscience, neurology or related fields for their interest and appropriateness for funding; analyzing the effectiveness of scientific research strategies of proposed research projects; developing and presenting neuroscience related scientific material at conferences and workshops; AND providing advice to other researchers on the performance, planning or management of research projects.
