Help
  • Load and unload trucks and other forms of conveyance, packs, unpacks, sorts, segregates, arranges, stacks, piles, or relocates a large variety of supply items.
  • Performs various manual labor tasks related to or in support of trade, craftwork or warehousing.
  • Prepare and restore the work site according to directions.
  • Operate light vehicles (not to exceed 10,000 lbs) on a regular basis to transport tools, equipment, materials and co-workers to and from work site.
  • Follows safety rules and regulations while operating a vehicle.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Laborer without more than normal supervision.

A. I have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex manual labor tasks to trade or craftwork . I am skilled in weight-handling devices such aselectric hand trucks or lifts, pallet jacks and dollies to move very heavy loads. I have completed assignments involving several familiar processes whichrequire remembering directions and/or sequences (e.g., mixing cement or asphalt to repair walkways). I am considered an expert and work with a highdegree of independence.

B. I have the ability to perform the full range of complex and manual labor tasks to trade or craft work. I am skilled in safely using basic hand tools such as hatchets, handsaws, and clippers. I have performed routine maintenance procedures for power equipment operated that included a visual check of the equipment, limited lubrication, cleaning/replacing air filters, and/or refueling. I have completed duties involving several distinct tasks or stepsindependently (e.g., unloading supplies, moving them to a specified location, and stacking them). . I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.

C. I have the ability to perform common manual labor tasks to trade or craftwork . I can perform routine operator maintenance of hand tools andequipment. I have safely used industrial cleaners (typically used in households) and basic hand and yard tools and equipment, such as a rake, pitchfork, wheelbarrow, hand-pump sprayer, hand truck, shovel, push lawn mower (manual), hammer, screwdriver, wrench, and pliers. I have performed routine work assignments with little or no assistance (e.g., picking up all paper and trash around the work site three times a week). I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

D. I have the ability to perform simple manual labor tasks to trade or craft work, or I have received training on assisting with skilled trades or craftsmen by retrieving tools or materials/ holds, moves, lifts, or carry items, clean equipment and work areas.

- Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
  • Physical Efforts- Work requires continuous standing, walking and stooping. Lifts, carries and moves objects weighing50-100 pounds. Works inside and outside, occasionally in bad weather, exposed to hot and cold temperatures, difficult terrain, blowing dirt and dust, drafts, noise, grease, and fumes. As required, use safety equipment and clothing such as coveralls, ear protectors, safety glasses and shoes, gloves and hardhats. Must be able to wear respirators and pass annual respirator fit test.
  • Working Conditions - The work is performed outside in all kinds of weather, frequently in wet, muddy, and dirty conditions, exposed to poison growth, reptiles, and insects, and under noisy conditions. Workers are exposed to cuts and bruises in using tools and working around moving machinery, strains while breaking or adding joints to drive shaft, slips and falls in wet weather, and the possibility of electric shock and burns. Subject to considerable discomfort due to mud, water, grease, and from the wearing of protective devices or equipment.
    • Performance of the above duties could result in exposure to hazardous wastes and materials during supervision and/or participation in drilling/sampling operations, requiring utilization of protective clothing as well as other safety measures.
