Duties

Help
  • You will assist with maintaining schedules/calendars.
  • You will plan travel and prepare travel documents.
  • You will assist staff on routine data entry and tracking.
  • You will set up files and filing.
  • You will copy, assemble, and distribute documents.
  • You will answer telephones and route to staff members, as appropriate.
  • You will greet customers and answer routine questions; refer non-routine questions to appropriate staff member.
  • You will monitor and order office supplies.
  • You will review and certify purpose of visit and classification level of visit for foreign travel requests.
  • You will maintain record logs.
  • You will review submissions for security policy compliance.

Qualifications

ELIGIBILITY:

To be eligible for the NC-01 Pay Band you must meet the following required level of education:

*Currently accepted for enrollment or enrolled in an accredited college (including 4-year colleges/universities); advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate on at least a half-time basis. A certificate program means post-secondary education, in a qualifying educational institution, equivalent to at least one academic year of fill-time study that is part of an accredited college level, technical, trade, vocational, or business school curriculum.

To be eligible for the NC-02 Pay Band you must meet the following required level of education:

*Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school study leading to a Bachelor's degree (or more advanced degree). Enrollment must be on at least a half-time basis. Note: 30 semester hours (or 45 quarter hours) is comparable to 1 year of undergraduate education. 120 semester hours of progressive study is comparable to 4 years and/or completion of an undergraduate degree. *We encourage you to submit documentation (acceptance letter, enrollment verification, transcripts, etc.) to verify this information.

All educational requirements and documentation to verify your eligibility for this position must be provided prior to Entrance on Duty.

Grade Point Average (G.P.A.) Requirement: This position requires you to currently possess and maintain an overall G.P.A. of 2.5 or greater out of a 4.0 scale. (G.P.A.'s are rounded to one decimal place. For example, 2.45 rounds to 2.5 and 2.44 rounds to 2.4). Your G.P.A. must be reflected in your resume.

This position may be non-competitively converted to a position in one of the following series: 0086 or 0080 series within the NC or NO Career Track at the 01 or 02 Pay Band levels depending on your highest attained level of education after meeting all regulatory requirements (including qualification requirements), and upon the recommendation of management. (i) A 4-year college or university; or
(iii) A graduate or professional school (e.g., law school, medical school);

Any of the following educational institutions or curricula that have been accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the secretary of the U.S. Department of Education:
(i) A 4-year college or university;

(ii) A graduate or professional school (e.g., law school, medical school).

PROGRAM COMPLETION AND CONVERSION:
Interns may be converted to a permanent position (or, in some limited circumstances, to a term position lasting 1-4 years) within 120 days of successful completion of the program.
To be eligible for conversion, Interns must:
Complete at least 640 hours of work experience acquired through the Internship Program
Complete their degree or certificate requirements
Meet the qualification standards for the position to which the Intern will be converted
Meet agency-specific requirements as specified in the Participant's Agreement, and
Perform their job successfully

The Pathways appointment has promotion potential to the NC-02. If selected below the full performance level, incumbent may be non-competitively promoted to the next higher grade level after meeting all regulatory requirements, and upon the recommendation of management.
