Duties

Help

As a METAL FORMING MACHINE OPERATOR LEADER, you will:

  • Serve as a working leader over three or more employees engaged in trades and labor work; the occupational group that represents the highest level non-supervisory work led is Metal Forming Machine Operator
  • Relay work instructions from the supervisor to the employees being led. Demonstrate proper work methods and procedures and coordinates with appropriate personnel to assure current and proper technical data is available for the work. Insure workers are aware of the guidelines to be followed in accomplishing the work and that the required tools, equipment, materials, and other resources are available as needed.
  • Advise the supervisor on training needs and assists with on the job training and other related requirements for employees. Answer workers questions with regard to policies, procedures, written instructions, or other directives applicable to the unit led. Provide on-the-job training to employees.
  • Refer major extensive machining operations / requirements to machinists. Interface with machinists, EICMs, engineering and other personnel in order to recommend and monitor repairs to presses and components.

  • Shift Work: This facility operates on a 24 hour per day, three-shift basis, 5 days a week. Work schedules may vary and assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed. The successful applicant must be available to work on all three shifts on a rotational basis.
  • May be required to wear safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include safety shoes, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, masks, etc.
  • Pass a pre-employment physical examination.

Physical Requirements:
Incumbent frequently works with objects weighing up to 60 pounds and on an occasional basis in excess of 100 pounds (bullion bars weigh between 30-100 pounds), however, forklifts, hoists, hand trucks, lifts, carts, and pallet jacks are available. Required to push, pull, reach, walk, stoop, stand, kneel, bend, and carry parts, supplies, coins, blanks, trays, packages, tools, etc. Must be able to work in cramped quarters for sustained periods of time and must have sufficient eyesight to do close work and endurance. Hand eye coordination is required to keep pace with the operation of machines and controls. Operates a forklift. Work requires sitting and / or standing for prolonged periods of time.
