The Operations Supervisor provides administrative and managerial assistance in planning, organizing, and accomplishing management objectives as part of the management staff. Provides first-line supervision and technical guidance to claims specialists, customer service representatives, and other supporting staff. Ensures that subordinate employees perform their duties, including the making of final determinations and commitments in claims and post-entitlement actions, appropriately and in the quickest time possible consistent with accuracy. Becomes the person in charge when higher-level management personnel are absent.

Qualifications

Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-11 level, or equivalent, which is in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience include the development, examination, investigation, adjudication, or authorization of claims for retirement, survivors insurance, disability insurance, pension programs, health insurance, income maintenance, or related programs.

Applicants for promotion must have 52 weeks at GS-11.

Time in grade requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

This is not a career ladder position; GS-12 is the full performance level.

This position is temporary not-to-exceed one year. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended or become permanent.

TEMPORARY SUPERVISORY PROBATION: First time supervisors/managers are required to serve a one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period. Time served in this temporary position may be credited toward meeting the supervisory/managerial probationary period.

Selected employee is subject to the completion of a 1-year probationary period for a supervisory position unless the employee served in such a position before August 11, 1979, or has completed one.

This position is eligible for telework.

Relocation expenses will not be paid.

Travel expenses for temporary assignments will be paid as appropriate according to applicable travel rules and/or regulations.
