Summary

These positions are located in the Mid-Atlantic Region, Fleet and Family Readiness Program, Fleet Readiness Department in the Fitness/Sports and Deployed Support Department at MWR JEBLC/FT. STORY IN VIRGINIA BEACH, VA. The purpose of this position is to serve as a Group Exercise Instructor demonstrating and leading safe and effective group exercise classes, applying the fundamental principles of exercise science, under the supervision of the assigned manager.

Duties

Help

Responsible for conducting one or more group exercise classes which includes but is not limited to lectures, exercise instruction and various athletic endeavors.

Must promote good patron relationships and enhance the image of the respective program.

The incumbent reviews the schedule of functions that are to take place during the assigned shift in order to ascertain what special preparations are required.

Ensures that necessary space, supplies and equipment are available and that room arrangements are completed prior to start of class.

Provides instruction and guidance to all patrons.

Exercises supervision over all operation of the class/activity.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate possess the following:

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION: Must possess and maintain at all times a Certified Group Exercise Instructor/Trainer Certificate from one of the following organizations: American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM); Cooper Institute; American Council on Exercise (ACE); Aerobic and Fitness Association of America (AFAA); American Aerobic Association International/International Sports Medicine Association (AAAI/ISMA); National Dance Exercise Instructor Training Association (NDEITA);International Dance and Exercise (IDEA); Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA). Must possess and maintain at all times a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Instructor certificate and First Aid Instructor certificate. Must have at least one of the following Certifications: Spin, Yoga, USA Boxing Coach, USA Weightlifiting, and Kickboxing.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Position has been designated Non-Critical sensitive. As a position of trust and ITII position, employment is conditional on the successful completions of an Access National Agency Check (ANACI).
  • Must possess and maintain a current driver's license to drive a government vehicle in the performance of duties may be required.
  • Position is subject to an irregular tour of duty which may include weekends and holidays.

Salary is dependent on experience and/or education.
