Duties

Help
  • Serves as the Artificial Intelligence Officer (AIO), principal advisor, and program officer for the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), Information Operations, J-6, Office of the Chief Data and Analytics Officer, J-6D
  • Serves as DLA’s senior advisor for AI to the head of the agency and other senior agency leadership by advocating at interagency coordination bodies, tiger teams, and AI working groups.
  • Responsible for AI governance by collaborating and consulting externally with DoD, OMB, and other offices to align AI program and policy with DLA policy and program initiatives.
  • Oversees efforts and coordinates a workforce planning program to attract, recruit, train, and maintain DLA’s AI workforce and establish minimum training and expertise standards.
  • Serves as the senior DLA AI Official increasing and coordinating the safe adoption of AI and appropriate AI use cases and projects across the agency.
  • Ensures the DLA Responsible Artificial Intelligence (RAI) program supports the agency’s enterprise in identifying and managing risks from the use of AI, especially for safety-impacting and rights-impacting AI.
  • Oversees DLA compliance with requirements to manage risks from the use of AI, including those established in OMB’s memorandum and in relevant law and policy.
  • Responsible for establishing, planning, and directing DLA’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) activities to better enable DLA senior leaders and staff decision-making

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-15 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience
equivalent to the GS-14 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including minimum qualifications and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:

  • Directing a highly technical and complex administrative program which involves the development of major aspects of AI administrative, regulatory, and policy activities that formulate AI strategic program plans for the assessment of policy and program feasibility including realistic short- and long-term goals and objectives to meet statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Overseeing and directing the coordination of AI use, promoting AI innovation, and managing the use of AI risks for management of an organization's advancement of AI governance, resourcing, innovation, implementation, reporting, and risk management initiatives.
  • Analyzing program objectives and management plans for the purpose of establishing, managing, and maintaining effective AI plans and organizations for the execution of responsible AI program functions throughout the entire life cycle of the AI program.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
