Summary

As the DEIA Champion, you will report to the Langley Associate Director (AD) and work closely with the AD on the development and implementation of NASA Langley's strategies for DEIA.

Help
  • Embeds inclusion, diversity, accessibility, and equity in center management for a respectful, diverse, and mission-driven environment.
  • Lead, develop and execute the Center's DEIA Implementation Plan in coordination with ODEO.
  • Design, implement, and improve center activities for training and development, fostering inclusive workplaces. Emphasize diverse talent, address bias, and build cultures rejecting harassment and discrimination.
  • Work closely with Employee Resource Groups (ERG) to promote workplace cultures that recognize and celebrate all segments of our workforce, especially those in underrepresented communities.
  • Serve as principal adviser to center management on inclusion, diversity, and equity. Serve as center liaison to NASA Headquarters, other NASA centers, and external organizations regarding inclusion, diversity, and equity initiatives.
  • Integrate the inclusion, diversity, and equity management efforts with the DEIA Council, ODEO, OSTEM, ERGs and other center inclusion initiatives and systems at the center.
  • Develop and present oral and written briefings to senior leadership, agency officials and external stakeholders.
  • Foster a culture of engagement, diversity, inclusiveness, excellence and innovation. Champion NASA's commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility to create an environment that promotes a commitment to safety, integrity, and teamwork.

  • Current Federal employees must meet qualifications, time in grade, and 90 days after competitive appointment requirements by the closing date of the announcement.
  • If the individual selected is currently at the GS-15 grade level, they will be detailed at their current grade and step. If the individual is a current GS-14 they will be temporarily promoted to the GS-15 level.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

To qualify for GS-15, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level:

  • integrating multiple priorities to influence management and center governance (e.g. center, program, project, or agency level);
  • making decisions or recommendations that significantly change, interpret, or develop major public policies or programs;
  • developing reports and refining technical and regulatory information into quality work products;
  • developing and documenting long-and short-range planning efforts; and
  • leading cross-organizational teams to achieve organizational goals and objectives.

APPOINTMENT TO THIS POSITION WILL BE TEMPORARY, NOT-TO-EXCEED TWO (2) YEARS. This assignment may be terminated, extended or made permanent at any time without further competition. If the assignment is not made permanent, the individual selected may be returned to the same or similar position from which they were promoted/detailed/temporarily reassigned.

If you are a current federal employee, you must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible for this position. To be eligible, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks in a position no more than 1 grade lower than the advertised position. (Please submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade.
