If selected for this position, the incumbent will serve as a subject matter expert on litigation support issues for both civil and criminal litigation teams with the U.S. Attorney's Office, Western District of Missouri. Typical work assignments will include:

  • Performing a variety of litigation support tasks necessary to process complex and/or voluminous electronically stored information (e.g., PDF files and portfolios, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, email files such as .pst or .msg, non-standard or propriety files, audio and video files, etc.) and preparing it for review or production by the litigation team.
  • Evaluating incoming electronic case materials to determine if they are in a useable format.
  • Organizing and preparing electronic files for processing. Using specialized software applications to perform processing of complex and/or voluminous electronic files. Performing quality control on processed files; diagnoses and resolves identified errors, including by performing any necessary research.
  • Consulting with litigation team members (e.g., attorneys, investigators, legal support staff) to understand case needs and technical requirements.
  • Using basic and complex document review database functions such as coding, tagging, advanced searching, sorting, filtering, and analytics (e.g., threading, stemming), and advises litigation teams on these functions' use.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.

Qualifications

GS-12: To be eligible, you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in federal service or private sector. Qualifying experience involved performing work in a legal environment providing technical advice to litigation teams on legal automation requirements and systems capabilities; analyzing litigation support requirements to develop or recommend appropriate strategies to meet litigation needs; organizing and managing voluminous case specific discovery; using Litigation Technology Software such as Law PreDiscovery, Concordance, Ipro Eclipse Suite, Everlaw or Relativity.
