Help
  • Provides NASA Launch Services Program (LSP) interface with the United States Space Force (USSF) at Vandenberg Space Force Base (VSFB) for base/range support to NASA spacecraft/projects requirements, planning, operations, and base host support.
  • Establishes and maintains the functional relationships between LSP and all USSF organizations involved with NASA and NASA-sponsored programs launched on commercial launch vehicles (CLV) at VSFB.
  • Manages, plans, schedules, and controls Government CLV/spacecraft activities and resolves issues between KSC and USSF elements at VSFB. Provides direct interface with USSF support organizations and all NASA or NASA sponsored CLV activities.
  • Provides guidance and information between LSP and VSFB for the planning and integration of commercial launch vehicle facility operations, maintenance, and modifications required for Government spacecraft activities.
  • Identifies potential problem areas between VSFB and LSP in technical, management, operational, and contractual planning, and assists in resolving these through coordination with appropriate personnel at all levels.
  • Provides liaison on all commercial launch vehicle/spacecraft matters between the affected LSP and VSFB organizations, and reviews efforts to ensure consistency with changing guidelines.
  • Maintains full knowledge of all commercial launch vehicle and spacecraft support requirements and identifies those areas where these requirements affect operational aspects, and which require further investigation or study.
  • Represents LSP at meetings held by USSF and customers with authority to commit resources in support of appropriate commercial launch vehicle and spacecraft requirements.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

To qualify for GS-15, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level:

  • Providing expertise and guidance to spacecraft customers on commercial launch vehicle and launch site facilities operations
  • Providing direct support, insight/oversight of objectives for launch services and spacecraft program/project following processes, policies, guidelines, and directives
  • Providing recommendations for improvement of program effectiveness or the improvement of complex management
    processes and systems
  • Leading a team or project to provide business operations or administrative functions for resources to leadership and
    internal/external stakeholders to accomplish mission objectives and goals
