Duties

Help

As a LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST at the NH-0346-4 some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • The incumbent serves as principal advisor for maintenance, sustainment and software policies and procedures of major weapon systems and combat support equipment; integrates maintenance, sustainment and software aspects across the ASD Sustainment staff; evaluates and influences resource allocation decisions; enhances maintenance and sustainment policies and procedures; provides maintenance, sustainment and software policy oversight; and initiates focused studies.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for developing, coordinating, implementing and maintaining maintenance related plans and policies for the major weapons systems (to include all aspects of software maintenance) and combat support equipment across the Department of Defense.
  • Develops policy and objectives, and performs analysis of DoD weapon systems and military equipment availability, reliability, repair cycle-time and continuous process improvement goals for technologies, investments and employment to maintain achieve required availability, performance, reliability and safety.
  • Develops criteria for, coordinates and performs technical analysis involved in process excellence and responsiveness throughout the end-to-end value chain of military materiel at various echelons. This includes such disciplines as acquisition, maintenance production and operations, and all critical processes of supply chain operations.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the NH-04, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-03/GS-13 grade level in the Federal service:

  • Applying life cycle logistics methodology for at strategic and tactical levels in order to identify and discuss with senior level managers the impact on sustainment and readiness initiatives, functions and activities;
  • Overseeing or providing leadership, technical guidance, coordination, and establishment of plans, policies, scenarios, methodologies, and/or techniques for the implementation of logistics processes functions, practices, and/or procedures;
  • Analyzing, developing, preparing, coordinating, staffing, and/or implementing life cycle logistics policies, procedures, programs, and directives to enable readiness and effective, affordable sustainment;
  • Utilizing the Planning, Programming, Budgeting and Execution process to support a life cycle logistics sustainment initiative.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
