Summary

The Custodian performs a variety of cleaning, housekeeping, and semiskilled duties for UH facilities: facility cleaning, equipment maintenance, laundering, minor facility repairs, outdoor maintenance; and maintaining inventories of cleaning supplies. They deliver supplies, merchandise, and equipment to other UH facilities. As needed, they move furniture and/or program equipment, and assists with event setup (e.g., setting up tables and chairs.)

Duties

Help

  • Ensures security of all guests is maintained at all times.
  • Must possess a welcoming manner and positive attitude: demonstrate effective communication skills.
  • Performs custodial duties as required inside and outside of buildings including but not limited to, trash/garbage removal, sweeping, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, washing walls/windows, and sanitizing bathrooms.
  • Cleans all lobbies, passageways, stairwells, laundry rooms, public restrooms, and other common use areas in and around the building.
  • Performs deep cleaning as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to sustain considerable walking, standing, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 45 pounds.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English both verbally and in writing with management, staff and guests.

  • Must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National.

A qualified candidate possesses the following:

  • Knowledge of a variety of chemical and cleaning agents.
  • Skill to use a variety of household and industrial equipment and attachments.
  • Skill to operate, clean, and make adjustments to powered cleaning equipment.
  • Physical ability to move furniture, lift and move objects over 45 1bs, walk, bend, stoop, and stand on a routine basis.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, and possess strong interpersonal communication skill.
