The work that the VISN20 Float Pool does is : The VISN20 Float Pool provides Community Care, PACT and extended PACT, Specialty, Tele-Eye, Mental Health, Cerner/EHRM, and gap coverage services to VISN20 facilities, CBOC's, Outreach Centers, and Contract Clinics throughout the United States. Hub sites are located at facilities and are staffed with providers and clerical staff/schedulers. Spoke sites are located at the patient site and are staffed with RNs, LPNs, Health Techs, and clerical staff/schedulers. The incumbents is responsible for a range of duties that typify the full-performance level of the position and is trained and competent to assist all scheduling staff. The incumbent has the ability to cover all internal and Community Care clinics during staffing shortages or backlogs to ensure the overall function of scheduling of patient care services. The position involves technical work concerned with processing consults from the Medical and Nursing staff, which includes responsibility for interpreting and verifying provider orders in accordance with VHA National Scheduling Directive guidelines. Float pool team also assists with HIMs in completing community care consults. Dispositions and schedules Return to Clinic(RTC) orders as per the directive Assists in multiple Cerner functions. This team is a tiger team that is high functioning in a fast paced environment that is multifaceted and ever changing.
Work Schedule: The VISN20 Float Pool works a Monday-Friday 0800-1630 Pacific Time Zone.

The work that the VISN20 Clinical Resource Hub does is : The VISN20 Clinical Resource Hub (CRH) consists of Tele-Mental Health, Tele-Primary Care and Pharmacy, Cerner/EHRM, and Specialty Care. Although virtual, the scheduling team has unique tasks that comprises their day-to-day efforts, including managing and scrubbing up to three separate scheduling platforms, providing cross coverage, and conducting continuous reviews of various MS Teams chats/channels. CRH MSAs have the skills to function as a CRH scheduler and provide virtual Gap MSA coverage, essentially acting as a virtual MSA for a clinic/team at any site within the VISN.
Work schedule: The VISN 20 Clinical Resource Hub works a Monday- Friday between 7:30am-6:00pm MST

The work that the VISN20 VA Health Connect does is : VISN20 VA Health Connect is a part of an inter professional healthcare team. AMSA provides support across multiple ancillary and inter professional clinics and determines the needs of the Veteran/caregiver. The AMSA is responsible for routing clinical questions to appropriate clinical staff. The AMSA plays an integral role in achieving first-contact resolution through Veteran-centered delivery of care. The AMSA provides information on programs and initiatives available to Veterans and provides administrative referrals of services as needed. The AMSA collaborates to best coordinate the care needs of the Veteran. Other assignments at this level include, but are not limited to: scheduling, canceling, re-scheduling patient appointments and/or consults; entering no-show information; monitoring appointment requests from multiple electronic sources; gathering and obtaining medical information from patients; processing medication refill requests; reviewing electronic health record, obtaining medical records, faxing, participating in huddles with other MSAs and/or VISN VA Health Connect staff to determine the daily needs of the VISN VA Health Connect, monitoring outpatient appointments in areas of responsibility; and verifying and updating demographics when contacted by patient
Work Schedule: The VISN20 VA Health Connect is a 24/7 operation - must be willing to work weekends/holidays and any other shifts as needed

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • English Language Proficiency. MSAs must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Handbook 5005, part II, chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3j
Specialized Experience: one year of specialized experience in an advanced or complex clinical setting utilizing numerous advanced patient care systems, scheduling appointments across multiple clinics and coordination of services among a diverse team of medical providers and clinics to include outside agencies, advanced knowledge of medical terminology, advanced knowledge of the technical health care processes, policy and procedures as it relates to coordination of care.

Candidates must demonstrate the KSAs below:
1. Ability to collaborate and communicate with a wide range of medical clinicians across multiple disciplines (e.g. medical doctors, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, clinical pharmacists, and nursing staff) to accomplish team goal setting to ensure medical care to patients is met.
2. Ability to independently set priorities and organize work to meet deadlines, ensuring compliance with established processes, policies, and regulations.
3. Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively, electronically, by phone, in person, and in writing, with internal and external customers. This may include preparing reports in various formats and presenting data to various organizational levels, as well as resolving patient concerns.
4. Advanced knowledge of the technical health care process (including, but not limited to, scheduling across interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery and/or care in the community models and patient health care portals) as it relates to access to care.
5. Advanced knowledge of policies and procedures associated with interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery and/or care in the community operational activities that affect patient flow, and patient support care administrative functions to include, but not limited to appointment cycles, outside patient referrals, follow-up care, overbooking, provider availability, etc.
6. Advanced knowledge of medical terminology due to the technical nature of language utilized by clinicians.

Physical Requirements: The work is mostly sedentary but may require periods of standing and walking. There are not any physical requirements for the 0679 series
