Duties

Help
  • Serves as a Senior Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC/SYSADMIN), ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of assigned systems, networks, and data.
  • Performs Cybersecurity maintenance in support of Wideband Satellite Operations Management System (WSOMS) subsystems.
  • Reviews and updates WSOMS subsystem Information Assurance-related documentation.
  • Performs vulnerability assessments using approved DoD scan and analysis tools.
  • Applies technical expertise, knowledge, and skill in systems administration methods, IT security principles, and analytical reasoning to correct security vulnerabilities in assigned systems.
  • Develops and updates supporting system documentation and accreditation packages when applicable.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position requirements for INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY Certification at the Foundational Level within 24 months of entrance on duty. The certification completion timeframe may change from 24 months to 60 months upon approval of the DoDI 5000.66, change 3.
  • This position requires temporary duty (TDY) travel up to 20% of the time.
  • This is an Information Assurance Position designated at the IT-II level IAW AR 25-2.
  • This is an Information Assurance Technical Level II (IAT-II) position as defined in Department of Defense Manual 8570.1M.
  • Must obtain and maintain the appropriate baseline certification IAW DoD 8570.1M. Personnel assigned to this position must obtain the appropriate baseline certification within six months of being assigned.
  • Must obtain and maintain the appropriate computing environment certification IAW DoD 8570.1M. Personnel assigned to this position must obtain the appropriate computing environment certification within six months of being assigned.
  • This is a Defense Cyberspace Workforce Framework (DCWF) position as outlined in DoDD 8140.01 - Cyberspace Workforce Management, Encl 2, Par 9(c)(d).
  • Secret clearance required.
  • One year/probationary period may be required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Candidates MUST possess experience that is IT related. The experience MUST demonstrate the competencies listed below:

In addition to the competencies above candidates MUST also possess the specialized experience. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes involves:1) Evaluating the application of advanced systems and/or techniques; AND 2) Verifying that system integrity complies with pertinent security regulations; AND 3) Applying technical expertise on assigned systems in response to problems identified in vulnerability reports.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:


Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Education
