Duties

Help

The incumbent serves as an Information Technology (IT) Analyst with a full range of duties associated with supporting various Database and IT Administration areas. The incumbent regularly works with other VA IT team members in implementation of data management systems solutions across multiple operational components of VA information technology.


Major Duties
  • Installs and configures Oracle database management systems and software.
  • Diagnose and resolve customer reported system incidents, problems, and events.
  • Troubleshoots system hardware and software.
  • Provides advice and guidance within the assigned specialty, of complex IT issues.
  • Implement security measures to resolve vulnerabilities, mitigate risks, and recommend security changes to system or system components as needed.
  • Performs configuration management, problem management, and capacity management for databases and data management systems.

Specialized Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the federal service; experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.


GS-13: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-12 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience is defined as installing and configuring Oracle database management systems and software; implementing data management standards, requirements, and specifications; analyzing and defining the data requirements and specifications of projects, determining appropriate resources to employ in developing a solution.


Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

There is no educational substitution for the GS-13 level.
