Duties

Help

As a Supervisory Building Management Specialist, you will:

  • Review supporting documents, blueprints, specifications, and cost estimates for alterations and new construction projects. Determines courses of action to be taken to address changes in programs, technological developments, and events that cannot be predicted or conflicting requirements.
  • Manage and technically direct contract administration activities for long-term, extensive technical service contracts, such as monitoring the status of contract performance and approval of progress payments, providing recommendations on contractor proposals resulting from change orders, scheduling, problems that have arisen and proposed solutions, verification of deliveries, and similar activities.
  • Express and present ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain sound working relationships with supervisors and managers to provide effective and comprehensive management advisory services.
  • Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates; sets and adjusts short-term priorities; and, prepares schedules for the completion of work. Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and capabilities of employees.
  • Evaluate the work performance of subordinates. Renders, advice, counsel and or counsel to subordinates on both work assignments and administrative matters.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. We must be able to verify this experience in your resume in order for you to receive credit.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 14 days of the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized Experience
For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
- Experience in a broad range of facilities and building management which includes oversight of construction projects; AND
- Providing procurement support, space analysis, and logistical analysis; AND
- Developing building improvements, renovation of existing space, value engineering of building projects and ensuring that structures and building accommodation are in accordance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) while meeting all appropriate building permits and construction codes.


In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-14 you must have been at the GS-13level for 52 weeks.
