Duties

Help
  • Serves as a Supervisory IT Specialist within the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) as Branch Chief (J62KBBD).
  • Manages the activities of employees who maintain the applications software environment for enterprise level systems.
  • Oversees the activities of subordinate IT specialists who provide production support, operational support and sustainment of enterprise data and analytic capabilities.
  • Manages the operation and business functions for integration and the utilization of required resources.
  • Participates with other J62KB supervisors in creating applicable directives and instructions.
  • Manages change resulting from the introduction of new products into the EDW software inventory.
  • Directs activities of subordinates that possess/utilize a thorough knowledge of software development,
  • (cont'd) life cycle management, systems analysis techniques, and the business functions of the DLA, including the deployed capabilities that support those functions.
  • Directs day-to-day operations and resolution of problems or areas requiring corrective action.

Qualifications

To qualify for a Supervisory IT Specialist (APPSW), your qualifications must include:

A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to
successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level,
applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay
systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other
regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
- Manages and reports on all application software development and integration projects.
- Identifies tracks and assesses standard metrics for operations support processes.
- Plans and provides contingency and backup capabilities for agency applications and systems.

4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

B. Education: Applicants may not qualify for this position based on education in lieu of specialized experience.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

Additional information

This position requires an Engineering & Tech Management (N) / ETM, Practitioner acquisition certification. The incumbent has 60 months to achieve this certification
