Summary

As an Information Technology Specialist supporting Infrastructure and Shared Services, you will provide technical support in all areas and functions associated with OCC infrastructure systems as it relates to network services. Additionally, you will support the implementation of the network infrastructure and enterprise network solutions, including network capacity planning, and installing, implementing, administering, and troubleshooting network systems.

Duties

Help

As an IT Specialist, you will:

  • Install, configure, implement, integrate, maintain and/or manage agency network systems used for the transmission of information in voice, data, and/or video formats.
  • Plan, install, configure, test, implement and manage the systems environment in support of the agency's IT architecture and business needs.
  • Support project staff responsible for managing, administering, developing, and/or maintaining information technology software applications.
  • Coordinate project activities to ensure that efforts are initiated and completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Communicate network services issues, plans and progress with stakeholders in Information Technology Services. Make recommendations to management on the information technology needs of the organization.
  • Perform project management activities for infrastructure projects and tasks as needed. Plan short-, medium-, and long-range project objectives and makes recommendations for project implementation. Support multiple projects through the systems development life cycle from project initiation, through development and maintenance of project plans, to include requirements, design and development, testing, implementation, maintenance, and retirement, using a standard methodology.

This position requires that the successful candidate undergo personnel vetting, which includes a background investigation and enrollment upon onboarding into "Continuous Vetting." Enrollment in Continuous Vetting will result in automated record checks being conducted throughout one's employment with Treasury. The successful candidate will also be enrolled into FBI's Rap Back service, which will allow Treasury to receive notification from the FBI of criminal matters (e.g., arrests, charges, convictions) involving enrolled individuals in near real-time.There are three key documents that contain important information about your rights and obligations. Please read and retain these documents:

  • Noncriminal Justice Applicant's Privacy Rights, for those who undergo an FBI fingerprint-based criminal history record check for personnel vetting, which includes Rap Back,
  • FD-258 Privacy Act Statement - FBI (this is the same statement used when your fingerprints are submitted as part of your background investigation), and
  • SEAD-3-Reporting-U.pdf (dni.gov), (applicable to those who hold a sensitive position or have eligibility for access to classified information).
  • Complete a one-year probationary period (unless already completed).
  • Complete a background investigation (unless already completed).
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
  • Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
  • Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
  • Travel frequently to attend conferences and/or training.
  • File an OCC Financial Disclosure Form.
  • Complete a financial disclosure review and resolve any ethics issues.

Qualifications

You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the NB-IV band level, or GS-11 grade level, in the Federal service.

Examples of specialized experience include:

  • Working with customers, management, and/or technical teams to resolve system outages that impact agency productivity; AND
  • Installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining network services, e.g., LANs, WANs, and telecommunications systems; AND
  • Utilizing tools and techniques to secure network infrastructure.

The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector, or through volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
