Duties

Help
  • Provide leadership and guidance on internal operations, project management, tracking metrics for internal success, and collaborating across OPM.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders across OPM on program priorities and operational plans.
  • Monitor progress toward achieving strategic objectives while removing barriers to ensure organizational objectives and deliverables remain in scope, on time, properly resourced, and within budget.
  • Communicate with customers via oral presentations and conversations to share information, provide feedback, mitigate barriers, and make recommendations.
  • Ensure the timely completion of team projects by applying project management principles such as project integration, scoping, time and cost estimation, communication, and risk mitigation.
  • Determine scope of individual projects by assessing required skill sets, costs, contractor support, and requesting applicable subject matter expert support as necessary.

Qualifications

For the GS 14: You must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-13 level in the Federal Government (or equivalent) that include all the following: 1) Documenting and implementing methodologies that address major aspects of project management controls, including integration, scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk, and procurement; 2) coordinating with stakeholders across an organization on operational plans while removing barriers to ensure organizational objectives and deliverables remain in scope, on time, properly resourced, and within budget; 3) using an automated system or software to track the progress of projects against plans to develop status reports; 4) formulating written products in a suitable form for policy decisions.

Merit promotion applicants must meet time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. One year at the GS-13 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS14 level.
