Typical duties include:

  • Developing and implementing techniques and protocols to more accurately and rapidly detect unlawful fraudulent activity affecting the U.S. securities markets, including market manipulations, offering frauds, insider trading, and crypto asset-related fraudulent misconduct;
  • Conducting detailed analysis of large data sets associated with potential fraudulent activity, such as crypto asset data, equities and options trading records, telephone records, bank records, IP logs, and social media data;
  • Developing and maintaining expertise with SEC tools, resources, and datasets, including crypto asset data and tracing tools;
  • Performing crypto asset tracing and analyses in fraud investigations;
  • Working on complex investigations across the Division and throughout the agency;
  • Identifying trends and patterns across a wide range of fraudulent activity;
  • Coordinating, liaising, and representing IMA in connection with areas of their responsibility, and carrying the requisite authority as team leader on projects;
  • Developing and implementing tools and techniques to utilize key data and information to aid the investigation of fraudulent misconduct affecting the securities markets; and
  • Collaborating with SEC legal staff, U.S. Attorney's Office, and other federal, state, or local agencies.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT:
SK-14: Applicant must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS/SK-13 level. Specialized experience includes ALL of the following:

1. Investigating potentially fraudulent activity involving the financial markets;
2. Developing and maintaining expertise with analytical tools and databases to perform research and develop evidence of illegal activity;
3. Conducting detailed analyses of large data sets associated with potentially fraudulent activity, such as crypto asset data, equities and options trading records, telephone records, bank records, IP logs, and/or social media data; and
4. Performing crypto asset tracing.
