As a PLUMBER, WG-4206-9, you will perform the following duties:
Installs and repairs interior pipe systems and plumbing fixtures and appurtenances.(a) Installs and maintains pipe systems, plumbing fixtures and equipment. Installs, tests, troubleshoots and repairs pipe systems designed to conduct flow of hot and cold water interior sewage. Installs and maintains pipe systems located above, under and on the ground; in, on and between walls, floors and ceilings; and, at mobile and stationary missile facilities. Installs plumbing fixtures, appliances, potable and non-potable water, interior sewage, and air and gas systems. Connects pipe sections using fittings and soldering, brazing, or packing oakum and lead will or hot head.(b) Installs plumbing fixtures such as heating devices, sinks, toilets, showers, water heaters, sterilizers and laundry machinery. Installs devices such as traps, vents, drains, siphons, pumps integral to plumbing system, meters, fittings, couplings, shock arrestors, and other fittings to pipe sections. Determines condition of connections, and makes repairs or corrections. Adjusts connections and pipe circuitry to correct such conditions as air lock, water hammer, expansion, contraction and friction.
Installs, services and repairs heating plants and equipment systems.
Installs and operates heating plants, equipment, systems and components by interpreting blueprints and drawings. Installs and connects electrical, electronic and pneumatic components. Operates steam and water heating systems to ensure optimum use and efficient operation.
Services and repairs heating plants, equipment, systems and components. Performs recurring maintenance by inspecting, cleaning, lubricating and adjusting equipment and components.(c) Installs, services and repairs related heating equipment such as warm air equipment, solar equipment. furnaces, pumps, firesides or domestic water heaters and components. Inspects installed equipment for compliance with technical orders, manufacturers' handbooks, local procedures, and directives. Services equipment such as incinerators and non-electric kitchen equipment. Repairs equipment or components by electrically or mechanically troubleshooting. Repairs related heating equipment insulation.
Installs, maintains. modifies and repairs refrigeration equipment, all types of air conditioning equipment, heat pumps, heat reclaim Systems, evaporative cooling, and ventilation equipment, plants and systems, including portable units.(a) Identifies problems and troubleshoots refrigeration and all types of air conditioning and associated equipment. Analyzes and isolates systems malfunctions. Tests pressure and temperature of refrigeration and distribution systems, using pressure gauges, recorders and thermometers.(b) Tests systems operation and purity and detects component malfunctions using test equipment.(c) Removes, repairs and replaces systems components or components parts. Performs operator and minor maintenance on electric motors.(d) Checks installed safety devices for operation. Performs inspections and purity control measures as required by technical orders.
As the sole worker and shop chief directly responsible to the RED HORSE Operations NCO, is responsible for shop matters, as applicable, such as: providing shop planning factors for maintenance planning as requested.
Is responsible for the training of drill status guard members assigned to the shop. Coordinates with the supervisors and/or production control on the scheduling of production work to be accomplished during the regular work week by drill status guard members.
As required, is assigned building and equipment custodial responsibilities for all assigned buildings and shop equipment of the plumbing and heating shops.
Prepares for and participates in readiness evaluations, Unit Effectiveness Inspections (UEIs), Operational Readiness Inspections (ORIs) and mobility and command support exercises.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Compatible military grade and assignment required within one year of the effective date of placement. Qualifications
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the candidate's knowledge of standard plumbing methods and techniques. Must have the ability to use tools and equipment associated with the plumbing trade and to read and interpret directions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training using plumb tools such as bobs, mercury gauges, dividers, closet augers, hydrostatic pumps, and lead pots. Experience installing and operating new and existing utility, supply and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil, and gas distribution systems, and water closets, tubs, fire sprinkler systems, and showers. Experience working from building plans, blueprints, and sketches. Experience planning and laying out routing placement, slant, slope, fall, and proper operation of systems and equipment.
