Duties

Help

As an Electrician, WG-2805-10, you will install, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain various electrical systems, controls, and equipment.

  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Shift work may be required.
  • Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth.
  • May be required to possess a valid operator’s license in order to drive a motor vehicle to and from work sites.
  • Emergency overtime may be required.
  • May work with hazardous materials such as asbestos or accumulated waste. Employee will be required to wear protective clothing and gear on these occasions.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. (Cat I/Type 2).
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver’s license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
  • Must be able to maintain appropriate security clearance for the position within one year of appointment.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to learn procedures used to install, maintain, repair and test a variety of electrical systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 18 months experience or training in installing, maintaining, repairing and modifying electrical systems and major substation components of electrical system; experience in diagnosing trouble and determining remedy when complex relationships exists among different electrical system circuits requiring knowledge of all electrical units and systems; experience in making electrical repairs that required the use of precision measuring equipment and common hand tools.
