Major Duties: This is not an all-inclusive list

A AIRCRAFT PNEUDRAULIC SYSTEMS MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, WS, 8268, 9, (1) Planning: Plans and schedules specific work assignments on a daily or project-by-project basis within specified time requirements. Arranges for adequate personnel, materials and equipment to accomplish the work.
(2) Work Direction: Assigns tasks to be performed. Explains prescribed methods and procedures; instructs subordinates on new procedures and provides assistance on problems. Reviews work in progress and on completion. Obtains approval from supervisor for changes in standard or prescribed procedures and changes in work operations. Suggests ways or methods to improve operations or reduce costs.
(3) Administration: Recommends individuals to fill vacancies or for promotion or reassignment. Assists in the establishment of performance standards and makes recommendations for performance appraisals. Counsels with employees on disciplinary issues and recommends disciplinary action. Attempts to resolve informal complaints and grievances, referring unresolved or more serious issues to supervisor. Conducts on-the-job training and recommends employees for formal training programs. Schedules leave and approves leave for short periods of time. Encourages employees to participate in suggestion or cost reduction programs. Ensures that regulations governing safety and housekeeping are observed. Explains and implements such personnel programs as equal opportunity, position management, position description review, and labor relations. Maintains production reports and records.
(4) Performs the nonsupervisory functions of the organizational segment supervised.
(5) Implements safety regulatory requirements. Ensures that subordinates wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions.
(6) Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. May be required to perform additional duties such as structural fire fighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operator, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or serve as a member of a team to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Minnesota Air National Guard Membership is required. if you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a Air National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position. Applicants who are not currently a member of the MN Air National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the Air National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Must hold 2XXXX AFSC to apply.
  • Higher grades may apply; however, may take an administrative reduction in rank if selected.
  • The military grade of the supervisor must equal or exceed the grade of personnel supervised. Airmen within the first 24 months of initial hire must include an approved exception to policy with the application. Members must remain in the position to which initially assigned for a minimum of 24 months.
  • For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment
  • May be required to work night shift.

The individual selected must be assigned to a compatible military position and must also maintain satisfactory membership in the Minnesota Air National Guard.

Qualifications

MILITARY GRADES: ENLISTED (TSgt/E6 Promotable to MSgt/E-7)

Failure to obtain a compatible AFSC may result in termination of employment.

GENERAL AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience demonstrating the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments of lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establishing priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.

REMARKS: No PCS available. The military grade of the supervisor must equal or exceed the grade of personnel supervised. Sensitivity Level 2. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

AREAS OF PRIORITY: In Accordance with MN National Guard Regulation 690-335 (Army) or 36-1 (Air), Applications will be forwarded to the selection official to conduct reviews by area of priority as listed below

Area 1: Current On-board Minnesota National Guard Title 32 Technicians who are in permanent or indefinite technician status as a result of being competitively hired within that National Guard component applying for a position within the component which they are currently employed.

Area 2: Current Minnesota National Guard Title 32 Technicians who are in permanent or indefinite technician status as a result of being competitively hired at a sister component that is identified on the Position Vacancy Announcement (PVA), including onboard Title 5 employees that are also current members of MNNG; i.e. Army MNNG to Air MNNG, Air MNNG to Army MNNG.

Area 3: All Minnesota National Guard members currently assigned to the MNANG or to the MNARNG applying for a position within the component in which they are currently assigned. i.e. temporary technician or Traditional Guardsman.

Area 4: Currently assigned service members in other branches of the military outside of the Minnesota National Guard, to include those assigned to Active Duty, Reserve or other state's National Guard.

Area 5: All individuals able to and willing to become members of the Minnesota National Guard including prior service not currently assigned to a military component and non-prior service US civilians.

Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of appropriate education, experience, training, self-development activities, and special awards. Candidates are considered on the basis of available information on their current application and supporting information that has been provided to this office. To ensure full consideration, applicants are urged to submit information about their training, self-development, outside experience, activities and awards. National Guard military (Part-time) service is considered as full-time experience when evaluated against the qualification requirements for a technician position. The applicant is credited with actual number of months the member has been in the National Guard if the experience is related.
