Help

Serve as the lead and mentor for a Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) team of senior, journeyman, and junior engineers in managing and administering SIEM solutions to ensure optimal performance and scalability, including related dashboards and applications.

Oversee the team and systems to architect, design, deploy, configure, and maintain systems according to the organization's needs. This may include requirements gathering, implementation of use cases, logging and data collection methodologies, event log parsing and management, rules correlation, alerts, report generation, performance tuning, scale for increasing data volumes and changing security needs, data visualization tools, health checks, system availability, access controls, user role management, dashboards, application administration, best practices, and system documentation.

Responsible for effectively communicating and collaborating with management, cross-functional teams, security, compliance, and internal or external customers to continually define and refine strategies and enhance security posture.

Qualifications

In addition to the Specialized Experience identified below, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

For the GS-14: Applicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the GS-13 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is in or directly related to the line of work of this position and has equipped you with the knowledge and competencies to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience for this position includes but is not limited to: Interpret government wide information security guidance and the application of information in establishing standards, policies, and guidelines to ensure appropriate implementation, and compatibility; working understanding of service provider managed or cloud computing technologies and the application of security controls within them; overseeing and manage multiple IT projects that required a range of knowledge of computer requirements and techniques; ability to use tact, diplomacy, poise, and discretion when collaborating with colleagues and customers to satisfy security compliance requirements and obtain necessary resolutions.
