Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • Applies a wide range of specialized technical and engineering concepts, practices, regulations, policies and precedents, analytical and diagnostic techniques, techniques for developing new or modified work methods, and approaches or procedures to a variety of planning and engineering studies and designs.
  • Develops statements of work for outside consultants to provide services to develop the programs and system necessary for the Building Information Model (BIM), Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD), and Geographic Information System (GIS) programs.
  • Utilizes BIM and CADD tools and other related emerging designs and has an in-depth knowledge of related computer application technology as it relates to the production of engineering reports, plans and specifications, and drawings.
  • Serves as the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) on related contracts and task orders.
  • Provides technical control, quality assurance, and oversight of BIM and CADD products developed by Architect-Engineer (A-E) firms.
  • Aids in establishing specific facility standards for the development of applications using BIM, CADD, and GIS programs.
  • Maintains all facility master floor plans by utilizing Revit and AutoCAD drafting and editing techniques.
  • Maintains and updates the Master Utility Plans, facility documents, and drawings and space surveys of the medical center to ensure an accurate and up-to-date document of using service assignment, room numbers, size, layout, and function.
  • Maintains the Facility Space Survey and building service equipment computer databases.
  • Manages the Facility Building Service Equipment Inventory.
  • Performs surveys of the facility and records necessary information regarding building service equipment in the BIM and other databases.
  • Prepares plans, specifications, and estimates for various projects, which include multi-disciplinary architectural, fire and safety, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, telecommunication, analog and digital electronics, and hazardous material abatement design.
  • Ensures construction work areas and practices are managed in accordance with the safety standards.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped them with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-10 grade level in the Federal Service. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include technical work in: drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems. Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as: planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes; instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated. Specialized experience also includes: utilizing AutoCAD, Building Information Management (BIM), Revit, or other modeling software; managing data; preparing and maintaining engineering related drawings and specifications; and preparing construction cost estimates. SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE (Transcript Required): Successful completion of three (3) full years of graduate education or a Ph. D degree directly related to the work of this position. This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Physical Requirements: The work involves regular walking, bending, climbing, and crawling in or around the facility and construction sites. Work hours can vary from the norm depending upon the circumstances surrounding project performance and building management system operation, which can entail night, weekend, and/or extended work hours.

Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee.
