Summary

About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency. It's located at the Ireland Army Health Clinic located on Fort Knox, Kentucky. The primary purpose is to support the successful deployment, operation, and management of the Defense Travel System (DTS). Responsible for help desk operations; resolution of travel issues; accuracy of travel database(s), tables and certifications; and sustainment training requirements.

Duties

Help
  • Coordinate all required actions to support the successful deployment, operation and management of the Defense Travel System (DTS).
  • Ensure development of traveler profiles, organizational data, reporting, budgetary, and document flow procedures in the Defense Travel System (DTS).
  • Assign appropriate permission levels to official personnel and travelers for their respective role.
  • Analyze traveler documents and/or reports to identify system problems and recommend corrective action.
  • Monitor transactions of travel card recipients and/or traveler accounts.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to travelers, authorizing officials, verifying officials, etc., regarding regulatory interpretation of travel regulations and debt collection procedures.
  • Prepare and distribute Defense Travel System (DTS) information to all organizations on site and gives briefings as required.
  • Perform a variety of budgetary and administrative functions in implementing the organization's travel program, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure Defense Travel System (DTS) system accuracy through evaluation and analysis of a variety of reports and outputs from various automated systems.

  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • This position requires to obtain and maintain a Financial Management Level 2 Certification within 24 months of employment.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience compiling and summarizing traveler information; and experience verifying cost of line items, and experience assisting travelers /or approving officials in resolving voucher issues; and experience ensuring compliance with local travel policies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Finance or Business Management or Accounting.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
