As an INSPECTIONS SPECIALIST (SUPERINTENDENT) (TITLE 5), GS-1801-11, you will:

  • Verify all assigned missions and operations are inspected in accordance with published and Wing Commander Guidance
  • Organize and present wing inspection data, trends, new and old deficiencies, corrective action plan status and any other relevant inspection related information to the Wing IG and senior wing leadership for the Wing Commander's Inspection Management Board (CIMB).
  • Coordinate with the wing and external agencies in the development and execution of inspections and exercises.
  • Identify CCIP trends for resolution and advises recommendations for corrective actions, mitigating circumstances, external coordination/ assistance visits, audits and on-site visits.
  • Conduct, oversee on-site visits to validate base organizations have effective self-assessment programs that promote quality communication and honest reporting.
  • Manage and oversee the administration of MICT/IGEMS within the wing by providing training, advice and support to wing users.
  • Plan, organize, and execute the wing/centers IG activities for the Commander's Inspection Program (CCIP).
  • Plan, schedule, and execute inspections/exercises including short-notice and no-notice inspections/exercises at all organizational levels of the wing.
  • Implement safety and security responsibilities by ensuring education and compliance with security directives in situations that require access to classified or sensitive material.
  • Plan, organize, and execute a wide range of activities for the center/wing Complaints Resolution Program (CRP) and Fraud, Waste, and Abuse (FWA) Program, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and ensuring the best interest of the Air Force and Airmen needs are met.
  • Review and validate corrective action plans on all deficiencies for completeness and monitors for effectiveness.
  • Assist with composing, managing and leading WIT and drafting inspection reports using !GEMS.
  • Manage how many inspections/exercises can be accomplished based on available manpower and resources.

  • IAW AF guidance, incumbent must complete the wing Inspector General Training Course (IGTC) within 180 days of appointment; must complete the USAF Basic Inspectors Course (BIC) for the Commanders Inspection Program within 180 days of assignment; and IG appointees for nuclearcapable units will complete the USAF Nuclear Inspector Course within 180 days of assignment. Successful completion of other courses will be accomplished IAW applicable DoD, AF, and National Guard Bureau regulations.
  • This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. This designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by TAG.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: To qualify for this position, your resume must reflect sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties of the position for which you are applying. Time-In-Grade Requirement:
Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-09 Level. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess specialized experience for the GS-11 Level which includes at least 36 months experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled; at least 1 year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.
OR
Education Substitute: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree from an accredited college or university that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work required for this position.
OR
Combination of Specialized Experience and Education:
You may meet the qualifications requirement for this position by combining your specialized experience and appropriate graduate level education according to the following formula: (a) your total months of full time specialized experience as a percentage of a 12 month total; PLUS (b) your total number of qualifying graduate semester or quarter hours as a percentage of one year of graduate study. The total of the two percentages must equal at least 100 percent.
