Help

As an Space Management Specialist, some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Providing input regarding the review process of technical feasibility, adequacy, and compliance with specifications. Help in the determination and decision making about what materials, resources and equipment are needed to ensure Office Hoteling (personal offices and workstations), Desk Management and Conference Room Management meet contractual/labor force agreements.
  • Serving as the Commission's principal liaison with building management in the operation and administration of the custodial section of the building lease. Acting as the primary point of contact and principal negotiator with the building management on all matters pertaining to custodial management and maintenance.
  • Coordinating with the lessor's representative and cleaning contractor to ensure technical lease performance. In conjunction with lease requirements, the incumbent conducts building inspections and in-depth studies to identify deficiencies and resolve problems with building management and the contractor(s). Appraises the lessor and cleaning contractor's performance and ensures compliance with lease and/or contract provisions.
  • Advising and informing the Branch Chief of problems and/or controversies along with recommended solutions and keeps the supervisor apprised of status. Serving as a liaison with the lessor, private contractor, and agency personnel to resolve custodial and maintenance problems. Providing advice on lease-related custodial, maintenance, and facilities activities.

You must have one full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 level. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience utilizing a workplace management software (i.e., AgilQuest), performing space planning, managing & scheduling conference rooms and workspaces, building support services, and responding to customer service issues and needs.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including any volunteer experience.
