Summary

About the Position: Incumbent works closely with the Chief of Design Branch in regards to Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) systems and Technical Design Software for computer systems. Serves as the CADD/BIM Systems Manager and the ProjectWise Administrator for Engineering Division, advising and assisting other engineers, architects, and technicians.

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

Help
  • Performs management, maintenance and oversight functions for the Districts ProjectWise, BIM and CAD systems. This includes user access rights, folder structure maintenance, investigation and resolution of operational issues, and software updates.
  • Participates in USACE Communities of Practice related to ProjectWise, AutoDesk Revit, AutoCAD, and other software and systems. Uses this forum to investigate issues and to bring both mandatory changes and best practices to the District.
  • (cont'd from above) Disseminates this information and provides training as necessary to implement new requirements and best practices.
  • Provides training on CAD/BIM/CAE network system use; develops recommended workflows and processes to optimize the productivity of Engineering Division. Troubleshoots problems with CAD/BIM related applications and environment used by staff.
  • Actively participates in project kick-off meetings to emphasize the proper standards for BIM/CADD/ProjectWise usage and implementation.
  • Enforces the established standards through project reviews at the various submittal stages and documenting the corrective actions to be taken by the project team.

Requirement for Engineering Tech (Civil):

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1. planning and engineering designs 2. production of engineering plans 3. CAD and BIM drawings. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
