The United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Florida is seeking applications from experienced attorneys who have superb research and writing skills to fill a hybrid Civil Rights Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) vacancy. The successful candidate will be responsible for both civil and criminal civil rights cases. Affirmative civil enforcement practice areas including housing and fair lending, voting rights, language access, educational rights, servicemembers' rights, the rights of institutionalized (including incarcerated) persons, pattern and practice of police misconduct, employment discrimination, Americans with Disabilities Act enforcement, and environmental justice. The criminal duties will enhance work in the areas of hate crimes, color of law prosecutions, and human trafficking.

Collaboration is key to our success. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division, making impactful decisions and ensuring justice for all. But the impact of this role goes beyond litigation: you'll also be an ambassador for justice in our community, work closely with agency partners, and participate in outreach events throughout the district to promote civil rights.

Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree, be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction) and have at least 1-year post-J.D. legal or other relevant experience. United States citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Applicants should have excellent academic credentials and recent litigation experience, preferably at least 3 years. Applicants should also be computer literate, possess superior oral and written communication skills, have strong character and interpersonal skills, have the capacity to function with minimal guidance in a highly demanding environment, and have a strong commitment to public service. Finally, preferred applicants must possess the ability to manage investigations and cases of a complex and varying nature.

United States citizenship is required.

Salary Information: Assistant United States Attorney's pay is administratively determined based, in part, on the number of years of professional attorney experience. The range of basic pay is $74,250 to $180,755 which includes 16.50% locality pay.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

Evaluation Method:Once your complete application package is received, it will be reviewed to ensure you meet all job requirements. An attorney interview panel will then review all qualified applicants and make recommendations for invitation to interview. You will be notified if selected for an interview.

The Occupational Questionnaire will take you approximately 20 minutes to complete.
