Duties

Help
  • You will operate heavy forklifts; load and unload supplies, materials, and equipment; stack, unstack, and move heavy objects.
  • You will construct containers using the requesting units specifications and make changes according to Department of Defense (DoD) Directives.
  • You will select proper type and grade of crafting materials needed and plan how to best utilize material available.
  • You will prepare shipping documents, and handling instructions on shipping container in accordance with the DOT/DOD regulations.
  • You will build temporary trestles, decking, bulkheads, and cribbing and cuts and/or place dunnage to support, stiffen or otherwise separate heavy or bulk freight.
  • You will be required to pack hazardous materials such as acids, cleaning fluids, preservatives, and materials that have radiation factors.
  • You will select, tools, machines, and plans construction method based on dollar amount, weight, storage, type of shipment and durability.
  • You will perform a variety of standard and specialized packing duties and receive all types of hazardous material (HM) for preparation for shipment to destinations foreign and domestic.
  • You will use common carpentry tools to plan, construct, and repair custom shipping and storage containers for items of irregular size and shape from wood.

  • You will be required to have good eyesight and hearing.
  • You will occasionally be required to climb heights of twenty-five feet.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a limited tactical vehicle license for loading and/or off-loading of tactical vehicles.
  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver?s license.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain all required certifications for this position.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: securing, packing and crating a variety of items, operating material handling equipment; interpreting regulations pertaining to packing, packaging, crating, shopping, handling, and storing materials; preparing packing lists for materials being shipped; and fabricating wooden supporting bracing fixtures.
